There are several possible reasons why your phone won't call and/or receive texts so it's important that you diagnose what the core problem is before you attempt to troubleshoot.
Setting Up Your Device
First, you will want to verify that your device is set up correctly:
Next, you will want to power on your device by holding down the power button for 3 seconds.
No SIM Card — Emergency Calls Only
Once the device is powered on, make sure that the top of your screen is not giving you this error: "No SIM Card — Emergency Calls Only"
If it is, read this article to troubleshoot your device: Troubleshooting a "No SIM Card — Emergency Calls Only" Error
No Mobile Network Available
Next, verify that your phone is able to connect to a network by:
- Opening your "Phone" app.
- Dialing a 10-digit number (within the US).
- Attempting to place an outbound call.
If you are unable to place a call due to a "No Mobile Network Available" error, read this article to troubleshoot your device: Troubleshooting a "No Mobile Network Available" Error
Finally, if the call you placed redirected you to a voicemail that explained that your number has been "hotlined," this is because you either:
- Inserted your SIM card in a non-Gabb device.
- Missed a payment on your previous bill cycle.
